Blue Earth County Release Paths
A person leaves Blue Earth County Jail in several ways. A court may order release on bond or personal recognizance. A charge may be dismissed. A sentence may end through time served or completion of the ordered term. Some people leave the building but remain under pretrial supervision, probation, or another form of community control. Others transfer to the Minnesota Department of Corrections, another county, federal custody, or immigration custody. Only some of those events are a release to the community.
The Blue Earth County Jail Custody Roster page says its records may include people currently in the jail or very recently released. Yet the linked report has no separate released group and no actual release-time field. The Sheriff keeps the durable county record. Courts keep the orders and case disposition. MN DOC keeps state-prison custody and supervision data. Each source answers a different part of the same question.

Blue Earth County Release Types
The label attached to a Blue Earth County release matters. A bond event is not the same as final disposition. Probation is not prison parole. A completed charge does not cancel another active case or hold. Read every charge and record the exact authority named by the Sheriff rather than reducing the event to “out of jail.”

A roster line such as “Pers Recog(RPR),” “Sent Complete,” or “Case Dismiss/NG” is charge-level information. It is useful, but it does not establish that the person walked out. Another charge, warrant, or detainer can keep the person in custody.
Blue Earth County Release Records
Minnesota Statutes section 641.05 requires the Sheriff to maintain a permanent jail record. The statute requires the record to state when each person was liberated and by what authority. This permanent record is stronger evidence than a transient webpage. It also permits a narrow request tied to a known person, booking, case number, and approximate custody dates.

Important: A name leaving the web roster is a clue. The permanent Sheriff entry supplies the recorded release time and authority.
The permanent jail-record requirement is visible in the source image below. Its focus on “when” and “by what authority” is why a targeted records request can resolve uncertainty left by the live report.
The law concerns the underlying Sheriff record. It does not promise that a released name will remain on the public roster for a fixed number of hours.
Request Blue Earth Release Records
Direct a county request to the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office Records Division. Ask for existing data, not a new narrative. A narrow request reduces name confusion and helps staff locate the correct booking. Inspection of public data at reasonable times is generally free under Minnesota law. Copy charges may apply. The county does not publish a fixed response deadline for this request.

- Specify the admission time, actual release time, liberation authority, release reason, and receiving agency fields sought.

- If data are withheld, ask for the precise statutory classification and any segregable public part.

The Sheriff fee page lists report copies at $0.25 per page after four pages and a $20 per-disc photos/audio category. It does not label that disc charge as a booking-photo fee. The separate $30 jail booking fee is charged in the booking process and is not a release-record copy price.
Note: Jail staff handle immediate operational questions, while Records Division handles requests for the existing permanent release entry.
Blue Earth Release Lobby
The county identifies a west-side Release Lobby at the Justice Center, 401 Carver Road in Mankato. The public jail lobby is open at all times, but Blue Earth County publishes no fixed daily release schedule. A family member should not treat around-the-clock lobby access as a promise that processing will finish at a certain hour. Court paperwork, required meetings, electronic monitoring, jail testing, another hold, or victim notification can delay physical departure.
The reporting and work-release instructions document this local entrance and also advise sentenced people about reporting papers, prescriptions, and personal property.
The entrance is a reliable location detail. Release timing still must come from the jail or the later Sheriff record.
Blue Earth Pretrial Release
Blue Earth County Community Corrections operates a Pretrial Supervision Program for some nonviolent detained people. It also describes a conditional-release-violator supervision program. These are forms of supervised community status while a case or violation proceeds. They are not final sentence discharge. The person may have reporting duties and can face a return to custody if the controlling order is violated.
Posting bail likewise starts a process, not an instant release. County instructions note that electronic monitoring, jail drug testing, a probation meeting, and victim notification can delay departure after bail is received. Preserve the bond event and the actual release event as two distinct facts.
Blue Earth Release Offices
The Justice Center co-locates the Jail and Sheriff's Office, Fifth Judicial District Court, County Attorney, and Community Corrections. That makes one building a practical routing point, but each office holds a different record. Sheriff Records documents custody and release. Court Administration supplies orders, disposition, and certified court copies. Community Corrections handles local probation and supervision routing. The County Attorney's files and duties are separate again.
Office hours also differ. Records Division closes at 4:30 p.m. on weekdays, while Community Corrections posts weekday hours through 5:00 p.m. The jail lobby remains open. Court payments and probation payments are separate. Ask each office only for the record it controls.
Blue Earth Release Property
Routine personal property held by jail staff is not the same as property held as evidence. Blue Earth County publishes a separate Property and Evidence process for seized or evidentiary items. That process uses appointments, photo identification, and possible proof of ownership. Release may also require authorization from an officer, prosecutor, or supervisor.
A person leaving custody should ask jail staff about routine property tied to the booking. Evidence questions belong with the Property and Evidence Unit. Keeping those channels separate avoids an unnecessary trip and prevents a release clerk from being asked to decide an evidence issue.
Note: Work-release transportation rules apply to that program and do not create a general transportation rule for every person leaving the jail.
Find Blue Earth Released Inmates
Begin with the custody system, not just a name. A Blue Earth County booking, Minnesota prison commitment, federal sentence, and ICE detention use different public tools. Record the timestamp on each result. Match case numbers and agency fields before deciding that two records concern the same person.
- Open the timestamped county roster and use the browser's find function for the exact surname and known spelling variants.
- Read every charge, status, case number, arresting agency, and projected date. One completed charge does not override another hold.
- If the name is absent, use the roster's case number in Minnesota Court Records Online or contact Court Administration.
- Ask Sheriff Records for the actual release date, time, authority, and any receiving agency in the permanent entry.
- If the record shows a DOC transfer, search the MN DOC Public Viewer. For federal or ICE transfer, use the matching federal locator.
- Compare a saved Minnesota VINE alert with the Sheriff and court records, but do not treat an alert as a substitute for the permanent entry.

Blue Earth Roster Release Limits
The county roster landing page uses the phrase “very recently released,” but it gives no retention window. The observed report is one text-forward roster with a Last Updated timestamp. It shows name, age, booking date and time, arresting agency, case number, charge, charge status, and a projected release date when populated. It does not display an actual release timestamp or a clearly marked released tab.
The official roster notice is shown below. Its separate statement about a person taking up to 24 hours to appear after assignment of a booking number concerns delayed intake publication. It is not a promise of a 24-hour release list.
This wording supports a current and very-recent roster check. It does not establish when a missing name left custody.
MN DOC Released Offender Search
The Minnesota DOC Public Viewer applies to adults committed to the Commissioner of Corrections who remain under DOC jurisdiction. That can include people released from prison but still under supervision. It does not cover a person whose custody consisted only of the Blue Earth County Jail.

A person who has completed all DOC jurisdiction may no longer appear. A no-result screen can also reflect spelling, data limits, another custody system, or no DOC commitment. Request historical DOC records instead of translating no result into discharge.
Blue Earth Release Court Search
Minnesota Court Records Online adds legal context, but its name search has a key local use limit. Pending criminal cases do not return through defendant-name search until the defined conviction point. Dismissed and continued-for-dismissal matters are treated as pending for this restriction. Exact names, wildcards, and “Sounds Like” can help only where name search is available.
Use the case number printed on the Blue Earth roster whenever possible. The MCRO Case Search entry can show the register of actions, while Court Administration handles records not remotely available and certified copies.
The docket may show a release order, bond, dismissal, sentence, revocation, or discharge. The Sheriff record still supplies the physical release time.
Blue Earth Release Record Sealing
The Blue Earth County Attorney offers a prosecutor-led review for qualifying cases handled by that office. The local criminal-record sealing initiative describes an eligibility review and help obtaining a sealing order for accepted matters. It does not mean every case qualifies.
Sealing can lawfully change public court visibility. Older, non-electronic, expunged, or access-restricted records may also be absent from MCRO. None of those conditions proves that a past custody event never occurred. For the county release fact, ask for the permanent jail-register entry and let the agency apply current access law to the requested data.
Blue Earth Release Notifications
Minnesota VINE is the county-jail notification channel. Search one person, confirm that Blue Earth County is the reporting agency, and register on the matching record. An alert can corroborate a custody change, but delay and data entry can affect delivery. Minnesota Haven is the separate DOC notification path for prison release, agent assignment, and sentence-expiration notices.
Federal releases require another branch. The BOP Inmate Locator may show a past federal release date and “RELEASED” status for covered federal prisoners. ICE's locator searches current civil immigration detention. A county departure to ICE or USMS is a transfer when the Sheriff record names the receiving authority. There is no general public USMS person locator.

Blue Earth Release Facilities
Blue Earth County has one adult county detention facility identified in the official local material. Other pages below represent the state and federal systems that may receive a person whose case began in Blue Earth County. Their presence does not mean each facility is physically within the county.
